|Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Alm, 1413
Frederick Street, that their son, Private First Class Donald J. Alm, landed in southern
France about a week after D-Day of that invasion.
Private First Class Alm has been overseas for more than 16 months. He has been stationed in Africa, Sicily, and Italy. While in Italy, he took part in the Salerno and Naples battles, serving with the Glider Infantry, after which he was hospitalized for five months because of a broken foot and infection.
He is now with a Signal Corps unit of the Seventh Army in France.
He has a brother, Lowell Alm, who is a Naval Aviation Cadet now in advanced flying at Corpus Christi, Texas.
|Aviation Cadet Lowell D. Alm left Tuesday for Olathe,
Kansas, after spending a 14-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.
C. Alm, 1413 Frederick Street. Aviation Cadet Alm has successfully completed his
pre-flight training at St. Mary's College in California and will now
begin primary flight training.
Mr. and Mrs. Alm have another son, Private First Class Donald Alm, who has been overseas since May 1943 and has served in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy. He has been in a hospital for the past five months, suffering from infection and a broken bone in his foot. He will soon be able to leave the hospital, according to his latest letter.
