Five Local Girls Sworn in WAVES at Superior Saturday
Five more Eau Claire girls are now in the Navy. They took the oath as WAVES at a WAVE enlistment ceremony at Superior on Saturday.

The girls are Beverly Bluedorn, Route 5, Eau Claire; Maxine Andersen, 1400 Emery Street, Eau Claire; Jeane Dietz, 504 1/2 Bellinger Street, Eau Claire; Wanda McKeeth, 539 Balcom Street, Eau Claire, and Margaret Moe of Rice Lake.

All of these new WAVES come into the Navy as Apprentice Seamen. They will leave for Hunter College, New York City sometime within the next few weeks. After their Navy indoctrination,  they will be assigned to Special Training School at some other college or university.

Petty Officer Elmer Otte, who accompanied these girls to Superior Saturday, said that several others who made the trip are in a pending status, due to high blood pressure or being slightly overweight.

All the girls found the Navy Intelligence Test easily within their scope. None had any difficulty in passing.

Petty Officer Otte added that he would remain in Eau Claire indefinitely for general Navy recruiting duty. The girls who still have applications out will want to get them in so they may be processed soon. Others are still coming in for applications. Before long, Eau Claire should have quite a group of girls in the Navy of the United States.
