Silver Star for Heroism Awarded Sgt. S. Anderson
Technical Sergeant Sylvester M. Anderson, son of Mrs. Gertrude Anderson, 323 Third Avenue, has been awarded the Silver Star Medal for gallantry in action in Luxembourg on December 24, 1944.

Sergeant Anderson and a companion successfully carried out the mission, contacting the enveloped unit, under constant artillery and small arms fire, and reunited it with the battalion without loss of a single man.

Sergeant Anderson graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1939 and entered the service on August 26, 1942.
