Private Charles E. Bell, son of Mrs. Mary Bell, 311 South Ninth Street, is home on all-day furlough before reporting to Camp Ord, CA. He has been stationed at Camp Fannin, TX.

Private Charles E. Bell, U.S. Army, has arrived somewhere overseas, according to word received by his wife, Route 4, Eau Claire.  

During his training, he was stationed at Camp Fannin, Texas.


Slightly Wounded in Manila Battle

Private First Class Charles E. Bell was slightly wounded on February 9 during the fighting in Manila, according to word from the War Department received by his wife, who resides on Shale Ledge Road. He is in the Infantry.

Private First Class Bell entered service about two years ago and has been overseas in the Pacific area for a year, taking part in action on other islands, before going to the Philippines. Guam was the last station. 

He is the son of Mrs. Mary Bell, 311 South Ninth Street, who has another son, Corporal William M. Bell, serving in France.


PURPLE HEART
Private First Class Charles E. Bell, wounded in the fighting at Manila, February 9, has been awarded the Purple Heart, according to a letter received by his wife here. Private First Class Bell is the son of Mrs. Mary Bell, 311 South Ninth Street.
