Eilert G. (Cy) Berg

Eilert Berg, USMC, left today for Parris Island, SC, after spending a furlough with friends and relatives here. He is the son of Mrs. H. G. Berg, 531 1/2 Churchill Street.

Lieutenant Eilert G. Berg, son of Mrs. Helen Berg, 531 Churchill Street, was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve on May 9. He received his officers training at Quantico, Virginia, with previous training at Camp LeJuene and Parris Island. 

Lieutenant Berg enlisted in the Marines in December 1942. His duty now takes him to Camp Pendleton, California, where he awaits new assignment. 

He has a brother, Lyman, who is in the Army Air Corps in Texas.

Eilert G. "Cy" Berg grew up on Churchill Street in Eau Claire and was very active in all sports, particularly in baseball, hockey, and football. He was a successful baseball and football coach at both Memorial and North High School.
