Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Alfred A. Brown, North Street, that their son, Charles D. Brown, has been promoted from Private First Class to Sergeant. He is with an Infantry unit in France. Sergeant Brown was stationed in Iceland for two years and was in Ireland and England a short time, before going to France. He enlisted in the Army in June 1940.

Sergeant Charles D. Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Brown, Route 4, North Street, was slightly wounded in action November 9 in France, according to word received by his parents.
He entered the service in June 1940 and received his training at Camp Custer, MI and Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
He was stationed in Iceland two years, after going overseas, and then was based in Ireland before going to France.
