|Three Eau Claire Youths Join Navy|
|Three Eau Claire youths were among a group of 16 Navy
recruits who left on August 21 from the Navy Recruiting Station at
Chippewa Falls for Milwaukee to take their final examinations. They will
be returned to their homes for an indefinite period, before being sent to
a naval training station.
They are John Heinzke, 809 Graham Avenue; Donald H. Buchholz, 720 Chauncey Street; and George F. Thalacker, 1008 First Avenue.
Heinzke has a brother, Staff Sergeant George Heinzke, in the Army Air Forces, stationed at Jacksonville, FL. His father, Theodore G. Heinzke, served in the Army in the last war as a Mess Sergeant.
Buchholz has a brother with the Army Engineer Corps in Saipan, Corporal Lloyd Buchholz, who has been in the Army 20 months. His father was in the Infantry during the last war.
