Roy Chaput

Killed on Luzon
Private First Class Roy Chaput, 23, was killed in action on Luzon, Philippine Islands on February 20, according to word received by his mother, Mrs. Camiel Chaput, 205 Mappa Street, from the War Department. He was in the Infantry.

Private First Class Chaput entered service on September 9, 1942. He took training at Camp McClellan, AL and Camp Butner, NC, before going overseas April 1, 1943, going first to the Hawaiian Islands.

He served on Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands, New Guinea, and New Britain, most of the time in the Post Exchange.

Last November, Mrs. Chaput received a very complimentary letter concerning her son from his chaplain, stating that Roy was liked very much by the officers and all with whom he came in contact.

Private First Class Chaput was transferred to the Philippines last January.
