Sustained Burns in Iwo Jima Campaign
A letter from D. Routh, Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Marine Corps, has just been received, stating that Corporal Carl E. Cowin, sustained burns of the chest, head, and right arm in action against the enemy at Iwo Jima, Volcano Islands.

The report further states that he was admitted to a hospital in Honolulu on March 29, 1945 for medical treatment. On May 9, he entered the Navy Base Receiving Hospital at San Francisco, CA. He is now in the Navy Hospital at Farragut, Idaho and expects to come home on furlough.

Corporal Carl E. Cowin enlisted in the Marine Corps in September 1941 and has served overseas 35 months.
