|Sergeant Allan Lemoine Daggett, 22, is stationed at the United
States Naval Hospital, Oakland, California, recuperating from injuries
received on Namur Island. He is a veteran of the campaign in the
"We had blown up two enemy pillboxes and were knocking out a blockhouse about 200 yards in from the beach," he said. "A block of cement, thrown by the explosion, hit me in the back and knocked me out. But the blockhouse was knocked out of commission and our men got 50 Japs out of it."
Sergeant Daggett is a graduate of Downing High School and was employed by Armour and Company there, before he enlisted in the Marine Corps on December 9, 1941.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Daggett, Downing. His wife, Mrs. Marjory Daggett, resides at 418 1/2 Water Street.
