Virgil E. D'Lamatter, RDM Third Class, is serving in the South Pacific, according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William D'Lamatter of Wilson.
He entered the Navy on April 19, 1944 and received his boot training at Great Lakes, IL and, after a nine-day leave spent with his parents here, went to Norfolk, VA, where he trained for radar. Following that, he went to Navy Pier, Chicago and New Orleans, LA.
For some time, he received an advanced radar course in the Hawaiian Islands and is now somewhere in the South Pacific as radar operator on an LST.
His brother, John W. D'Lamatter, is serving as gunner on an LST somewhere in the South Pacific.
John W. D'Lamatter, Seaman Second Class, United States Naval Reserve, is now serving in the Southwest
Pacific, according to word received from him by his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. William D'Lamatter, town of Wilson.
Seaman D'Lamatter received his boot training at Farragut, ID and at Fort Pierce, FL. He is serving on an LST and LCVP.
He was inducted into the service on November 26, 1943. He has one brother, Virgil E. D'Lamatter, also in the Navy.
