The marriage of Miss Dorothy Schlageter and Aviation Cadet
Duane C. Eckstedt took place at the Grace Lutheran Parsonage, Santa
Maria, California, at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon on June 23, Reverend O.W.
Mieger performing the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schlageter, 621 Hobart Street, Eau Claire, and the
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Eckstedt of Jamestown, NY.
The bride's attendant was Mrs. Johnny Eldridge, formerly Delores Steubing of Eau Claire, whose husband and Cadet Eckstedt are in the same squadron. The groom was attended by Aviation Cadet Joseph Freeland.
The bride wore a suit of deep lavender color with white accessories and a corsage of yellow roses. Mrs. Eldridge wore a dress of lilac shade with matching accessories and a corsage of gardenias.
Mrs. Eckstedt is a graduate of Eau Claire High School and attended State Teachers College. Before her marriage, she was employed by the International Harvester Company in Eau Claire. Aviation Cadet Eckstedt was a member of the 301st training detachment, stationed in Eau Claire last August. He was transferred to Santa Ana, CA for pre-flight training; then to Hancock College, Santa Maria, CA for primary training. He is now at Gardner Field, Taft, CA for his basic pilot's training.
Following a short trip to Pisino Beach, CA, Cadet and Mrs. Eckstedt will be located at Taft, until Cadet Eckstedt completes his training in September. Then they plan to visit their parents in Eau Claire and Jamestown. They will also be the house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Lee, State Street Road. Mrs. Lee is the sister of Mrs. Eckstedt.
The Cadet wives entertained at a dinner party for Mrs. Eckstedt and presented her with a lovely gift. Cadet Eckstedt was also entertained at a stag dinner by the men in his squadron.
