ENSIGN MARVIN FOSTER
Marvin R. Foster, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Foster, 715 Forest Street, recently received his commission as Ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve at graduation ceremonies at the Naval Training School for Midshipmen on the Northwestern University campus in Evanston, IL.

He spent a leave visiting his parents here and has left for assignment to active duty. The newly commissioned ensign will serve as a deck officer.

Ensign Foster is a graduate of Eau Claire Senior High School, 1939, and the teachers college here.


ARRIVES OVERSEAS
Ensign Marvin Foster has arrived safely overseas, according to a letter from him received by his mother, Mrs. C. E. Foster, 715 Forest Street.

AT A MEDITERRANEAN PORT--Ensign Marvin R. Foster, United States Naval Reserve, of 715 Forest Street, Eau Claire, is Officer-in-Charge of an LCT (Landing Craft Tank) in the Mediterranean Theater.

A veteran of two amphibious operations, including the supply phase of the Anzio landings and the assault in southern France last August, Ensign Foster has been overseas since February 1944. He entered the Naval service in September 1943.

Ensign Foster attended Wisconsin State Teachers College and the University of Wisconsin. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Foster of Eau Claire.
