Harold C. Freid

Private First Class Harold C. Freid, U.S. Marine Corps, has arrived in the South Pacific area, according to word received by his mother, Mrs. Ida R. Freid of Eau Claire.

He entered the service on June 26, 1944 and received his training at San Diego and Camp Pendleton, CA.

He left for overseas on November 8, 1944 and was promoted to Private First Class in December.

Ensign Gordon D. Erickson, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Erickson, 547 Putnam Street, has been promoted to Lieutenant, junior grade, according to word received here from the Pacific War Theater, where he his now serving. Lieutenant (junior grade) Erickson is with an Amphibious Landing Force and took part in the actions on both Iwo Jima and on Okinawa. While at Saipan, he met a cousin, Private Harold Freid, U. S. Marine Corps, and the two had a pleasant visit, he said, in a letter to his parents. A brother, Sergeant Clare E. Erickson, is with the Army Air Force in north Burma.
