Miss Mary Friedeck, who has been doing secretarial work at the Army Air Base, Hill Field, Ogden, Utah, for the past eleven months, has enlisted in the WAVES and was sworn in at the Navy Recruiting Station in Salt Lake City on January 15.
After her enlistment, she spent four weeks in this city, visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Friedeck, 1312 Lyndale Avenue.
On February 22, she left Eau Claire for Hunter College, New York City, where she will receive her basic training.
Miss Friedeck is a graduate of St. Patrick's High School, Class of 1941, and later specialized in secretarial work at the Eau Claire Vocational School. At the Hill Field Air Base, she took a course in military correspondence and was appointed private secretary to the Chief Technical Inspector in the Office of Supply.
Her brother, John, served for 35 months in the Army as Mess Sergeant in the Infantry. He was later given a medical discharge.
