Arthur (Art) Galstad

Blair Flier Home from Italy Base
WHITEHALL, WI (Special)--Lieutenant Arthur Galstad arrived at the home of his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Evenson, at Blair, Sunday, from completing his 50 missions over enemy territory in Europe as a navigator on a B-24 Liberator. He has a 35-day leave, after which he will report to Miami Beach, FL at a rest camp and for re-assignment. His wife plans to accompany him there.

Lieutenant Galstad has the Air Medal and two Oak Leaf Clusters. His unit has two citations, one for the raids over the Ploesti oil fields in Rumania and the other for knocking out aircraft factories at Regensburg, Germany, and it is in line for a third citation for raids over the manufacturing and railroad center in Linz, Austria.

Art said it was a great thrill to see their bombs hit the targets, and that partly made up for the feeling of fear that possesses all crews on bombing missions.
