|Corporal Ernest W. Gerth of the Marine Corps has returned to Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, CA, after spending a 15-day furlough with his parents in Cleghorn. LaVerne Gerth, Aviation Radioman Third Class, was able to get a few days leave to see his brother, who had not been home [**data missing**]|
|CPL. ERNEST GERTH
Corporal Ernest W. Gerth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Gerth, Route 1, Eleva, is serving somewhere in the South Pacific, according to word received by his parents.
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on October 6, 1941 and received his boot training at San Diego, CA. He was then transferred to Camp Elliott, where he received specialized training in radio and telephone. He was then sent to Camp Dunlap, CA and, later, to Camp Pendleton, where he received further training in radio, telephone, and photography.
He has a brother, LaVerne, who is training with the Navy Air Corps at Cecil Field, FL.
