|Lloyd Gibson Survives Sinking of 'Block Island'|
|Mr. and Mrs. Bert Gibson, Route 2, Eau Claire, have
received a cablegram from their son, Lloyd, Quartermaster First Class, U.S.
Navy, stating that he is safe and well on foreign soil, after the
torpedoing of the aircraft carrier, Block Island, on
which he was serving.
This ship was torpedoed in the North Atlantic about a month ago, as reported by the Navy a week ago.
Gibson is a survivor of the sinking of the Lexington. He enlisted in the Navy in December 1939. He has a brother, Richard, in the Navy somewhere in the South Pacific.
