VERA GRIFFIN SK 3C, USNR 
Miss Vera Griffin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Griffin, 414 Emery Street, left yesterday to report to the Naval Training School, University of Chicago, Chicago, IL for duty on February 9. 

Miss Griffin received the Petty Officer rating of Storekeeper Third Class. She was graduated in the first class of 590 WAVE storekeepers from the U.S. Naval Training School at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN on February 1 and has since been home on leave, visiting family and friends. 

The four-month course consisted of training in connection with Navy terms, regulations, history and ships and aircraft, along with the regular men's storekeeping course, preparing them for work in disbursing, supply and commissary offices.

Mr. and Mrs. Griffin entertained at an open house on the evening of February 4, at which approximately 65 guests were present.


Miss Vera Griffin, Storekeeper Second Class, Unites States Naval Reserve, has returned to her post at the University of Chicago, after spending a 6-day leave at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Griffin, 409 Lincoln Avenue.

Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Griffin, 409 Lincoln Avenue, had as house guests over the weekend: their daughter, Miss Vera Griffin, Storekeeper Second Class, United States Naval Reserve, of Chicago; James J. Griffin, Seaman First Class, United States Naval Air Station, of Goodland, IN, now stationed at Wold Chamberlain Field at Minneapolis; and Private and Mrs. Donald H. Kees of St. Louis, MO. Private Kees has finished his basic training at Jefferson Barracks, MO and is now en route to Fresno, CA, where he will study aviation mechanics. 

Miss Vera Griffin, Storekeeper Second Class, United States Naval Reserve, now stationed at the University of Chicago, spent a 72-hour leave with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Griffin, 409 Lincoln Avenue, the past weekend.
