Orville W. Gruen

Private First Class Orville Gruen, U.S. Army Air Corps, has arrived somewhere in the South Pacific, according to word received by his wife, Irene, 727 McDonough Street.

Private First Class Gruen entered the service on April 10, 1943 and received his training in Greensboro, NC; Buckley Field, Denver, CO; Brookings, SD; and Kearns Field, Salt Lake City, UT.

His parents are Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Gruen, 548 Balcom Street.

Orville W. Gruen, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Gruen, 747 McDonough Street, has been promoted from Private First Class to Corporal in the South Pacific, it has been announced by Major General Hubert R. Harmon, Commanding General of the Thirteenth Army Air Force. Corporal Gruen is an Administrative Clerk in the Operations Section of Headquarters. He entered the Army Air Forces in April 1943 and left for overseas duty in December, after completing his training at an Army Administration School, Brookings, SD. Corporal Gruen’s wife, the former Irene Peterson, makes her home in Eau Claire.
