Infantryman Is Reported Missing
PVT. LAVERNE HAGENESS
Private Laverne Hageness, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hageness, Route 1, Augusta, has been reported missing in action in southern France, since November 29, according to official notification received by his parents on December 19.

He entered the service in January 1943 and received basic training at Camp Grant, IL; then was stationed at the Medical Corps Hospital at Palm Springs, CA for one and one-half years.

He was then transferred to the Infantry at Camp Howze, TX and went overseas the latter part of September.

PVT. L. HAGENESS
Private Laverne Hageness, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hageness, Route 1, Augusta, has been killed in action in southern France, according to a War Department telegram received by his parents Friday evening.

He was with an Infantry division and was first reported missing on November 29.

He entered the service in January 1943 and received his basic training at Camp Grant, IL; then was stationed at the Medical Corps Hospital at Palm Springs, CA for one and one-half years.

The Infantryman was stationed at Camp Howze, TX, before going overseas last September.

Surviving are his parents, three brothers: Duane, Stanley, and Gary; two sisters, Margie Ann and Doris, all at home.
