|ALLARD M. HANSON
Allard M. Hanson, Gunner's Mate Second Class, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. O. K. Hanson of Eau Claire.
After enlisting on November 13, 1940 and training at Great Lakes, IL, he served on the USS Arkansas, one of the battleships guarding President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Churchill during the Four Freedoms Meeting.
His next transfer was to the USS Forrest, doing convoy duty in the Atlantic area, and he also took part in the Battle of Casablanca.
From April 1943 until March 1944, he served at the U.S. Ordnance Base on Newfoundland.
After a recent visit at home, he left on April 6 for Washington, DC, where he reported for advanced work in the Gunner's Mate and EH Naval School.
