above are five youths from Eau Claire and one from Chippewa Falls being
enlisted in the Air Corps Enlisted Reserve by Lieutenant Edward J. Meikel, when
representatives of the Army Aviation Cadet Examining Board of Milwaukee
held a one-day session at the Elks Club here Monday.
These youths were presented with Silver Wings; designating their enlistment for training as pilots, bombardiers or navigators. They will be called for active duty some time after their eighteenth birthdays.
In the group with Lieutenant Meikel, head of the traveling board, are George D. Olson, Route 4, Eau Claire; John S. Remol, 721 Dover Street, Chippewa Falls; Kenneth P. Strum, 1022 Omaha Street; Patrick J. Crawford, 506 South Farwell; Carson W. Proctor, Jr., 538 Maple Street; and Gordon 0. Wollum, 315 1/2 Oak, Eau Claire.
Besides enlisting the above youths, the traveling board qualified 18 youths after mental exams, and they will be formally enlisted, if they pass physical examinations to be given at Truax Field, Madison in about a week.

Marvin Hanson, Seaman Second Class, son of Mrs. Laura Hanson, 615 Hobart Street, is serving somewhere in the South Pacific, according to word received here.
Hanson entered the service in March 1944 and received his training at Great Lakes, IL and Camp Elliott, San Diego, CA.
He graduated from Eau Claire High School with the June Class of 1943.
