Sergeant Hanson entered the service in January 1943 and received his training in Camp Howze, TX; Camp Livingston, LA; Camp Coot, Camp Callan, and Camp San Luis Obispo, CA, before going overseas.

He was awarded the Expert Infantryman's Badge in July 1944.

His wife, Lillian, and daughter, Sandra Kay, reside with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hanson, 524 Forest Street.
