ENSIGN ARTHUR S. HANSTROM
Arthur S. Hanstrom, nephew of Dr. and Mrs. H. M. Stang, 233 Gilbert Avenue, has been commissioned an Ensign D-V(S), USNR. 

Before leaving for service, he was well-known through his affiliation with Radio Station WEAU as an announcer and his play-by-play descriptions of the local sports events. He is a graduate of Eau Claire High School and  the state teachers college.

Ensign Hanstrom enlisted in the Naval Reserve early in 1942 as a Seaman, was advanced to a Petty Officer, Radioman Third Class, last November, and came up through the ranks to be awarded a commission April 16.  Since enlisting, he has been on duty at the Naval Aid Station in Minneapolis in the Communications Department.

He is spending a week in Eau Claire, before leaving for Boston to take up duties in his new capacity.


Ensign Arthur Hanstrom Weds California Girl  wed
The marriage is announced of Ensign Arthur Hanstrom, formerly of Eau Claire, and Madelyn Burdette, Yeoman Second Class, of Ocean Beach, CA. The wedding took place on March 7 at the home of the bride, Reverend James F. Roberts performing the ceremony. Attendants were Miss Madelyn Boyd and the bride's brother, Bailey Burdette.

Ensign Hanstrom is a nephew of Dr. H. M. Stang of this city. Before enlisting in the Navy, he was announcer at Station WEAU.
