Private Joseph Daniel Harper has arrived safely somewhere in Ireland, according to word received by his wife and daughter, who reside at 432 1/2 Water Street.

Private Harper entered the service on October 8, 1942 and trained at Fort Benning, GA; Camp Blanding, FL; Camp Mackall, NC, before going overseas.

Private Harper is with the Parachute Infantry. He won the silver wings of a paratrooper on June 12, 1943, after qualifying and completing five jumps in a five-week course.

Private Joseph Daniel Harper is a prisoner of the German government, according to a telegram received here on August 13. Private Harper was reported missing in action over France since June 6. He was serving with the Parachute Infantry. His wife and daughter reside at 432 1/2 Water Street. He is the son of Mrs. Leona Harper of this city.

Paratrooper Freed from Nazi Prison

A telegram was received Saturday, stating that Private Joseph Daniel Harper has been freed from a German prison camp and is in England, expecting to be home soon.

He has been a war prisoner since June 6, 1944 and this was the first word received from him since December 1944[?], when he was in 4-A near Dresden.

His wife and daughter reside at 432 1/2 Water Street and his mother at 833 North Fourth Street.

In the Parachute Infantry, he entered the service on October 8, 1942 and trained at Fort Benning, GA; Camp Blanding, FL; and Camp Mackall, NC, before going overseas.
