Frank W. Hays

SGT. FRANK HAYS
Sergeant Frank W. Hays has arrived in England, according to word received by his wife, who resides at Route 5. 

After entering the service on September 9, 1942, he received his training at Fort Sill, OK; Fort Meade, MD; Camp Hood, TX; Nashville, TN; Camp Gordon, GA; Camp Claiborne, LA; Camp Livingston, LA; and several others. 

He is in a Tank Destroyer Unit.


Suffers Wounds in Luxembourg Action
SGT. FRANK HAYS
Sergeant Frank Hays suffered arm and leg wounds during the fighting in Luxembourg, according to word received by his wife, who resides on Route 5, Eau Claire. He is the son of Hiram Hays, Eau Claire.

Sergeant Hays went overseas last July, as a member of a tank destroyer battalion, and was transferred to the Infantry early in December.

He entered service on September 9, 1942.


PURPLE HEART
Sergeant Frank W. Hays has been awarded the Purple Heart at Bushnell General Hospital, Brigham City, Utah, where he returned, after spending a 60-day furlough with his wife and three children, Route 5, city. Sergeant Hays lost his left leg through wounds received in Luxembourg, January 1945, and arrived at Bushnell Hospital early in February.
