Vernon L. Hemner

Sergeant Vernon L. Hemner of Rice Lake has been awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge for satisfactory performance against the Germans on the Fifth Army Front in Italy. In Italy, he was in the crossings of the Volturno River, Mount Pantano, the drive through the Gustav Line, along the Rapido River, Monte Cassino, Anzio Beachhead, the drive on Rome, and is now in the Tuscan regions. He entered the Army in July 1940 at Fort Snelling.
