|Five Eau Claire Men Enlist for Service in Navy|
|Culminating a week of activity preceding Navy Day, the
Chippewa Falls Recruiting office announced the enlistment of five Eau
Claire youths, with more to come. Among those to be enlisted were Harvey
C. Heuer, 1021 Hastings Way; John B. Sanford, 718 Second Avenue; Eldon V.
Gould, Route 1; LeRoy A. Pippenger, 812 Zephyr Hill Avenue; and Ronald
H. Parr, 412 1/2 Water Street.
Pippenger has one brother in the service, Private Mylon L. Pippenger, somewhere in New Guinea. Gould also has a brother in the service, Corporal Elwin D. Gould with the invasion forces in France.
The Navy Recruiting Office in the Post Office Building is open every Thursday and Saturday according to R. W. Shuey of the Chippewa Falls Recruiting Station, and young men, 17 years of age, are urged to investigate the opportunities of learning a trade while serving their country in the present conflict to free the world.
|AT GREAT LAKES
Two Eau Claire men are receiving their initial naval indoctrination at the United States Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, IL. When their recruit training is completed, these men will receive a period of leave.
They are Ronald Harold Parr, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Darwell Parr, 412 1/2 Water Street, and Harvey Calmer Heuer, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Christifer Heuer, 1021 Hastings Way.
