Funeral Services for Lieut. Hewitt to Be Here on Sunday
Funeral services for Second Lieutenant Barton Hewitt, 22, Army Air Corps pilot, who was fatally injured Tuesday in the crash of a transport plane, will be held at the Methodist Church here at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, the Reverend Fred J. Jordan officiating.

Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, and military honors at the grave will be accorded by the American Legion. Lieutenant Hewitt's body will be accompanied home by Corporal Omar La Moe, a personal friend and college mate of the deceased, who was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, where the crash occurred. This was at the personal request of Lieutenant Hewitt's father.

Friends may call at Stokes and Sons Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Barton M. Hewitt, 1423 Highland, Eau Claire, and two grandmothers, Mrs. Grace Lowe of Allen and Mrs. Anna Hewitt of Melrose.

Lieutenant Hewitt was last home shortly after he received his wings last July 11. He trained at Sikeston, MO; San Angelo, TX; and Kelley Field, TX. He was a graduate of the Eau Claire State Teachers College.
