|Sergeant Eugene L. Holum, United
States Marine Corps, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Holum, Route 3, Eau Claire,
served in the South Pacific area from June 1943 until last November. He
was on duty at Guadalcanal, New Caledonia, Bougainville, Amaru, and the
Islands of New Hebrides. He had entered the service on February 9, 1942
and received his boot training at San Diego.
While on a 30-day furlough in January 1945, he married Miss Lois Glass of El Paso, TX. They are now living at San Diego, CA, while Sergeant Holum is on duty at Miramar.
Sergeant Holum's younger brother, Private Irving Holum, who entered the Army on November 20, 1944 and received his basic training in the Infantry at Fort Robinson, Little Rock, AR, arrived in France on April 22.
The brothers spent a furlough together at their parents' home here in March.
