Rock Falls Coxswain Returns to Base
Eldred E. Hoover, 19, Coxswain in the United States Navy and the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Hoover of Rock Falls, WI, has recently returned to his base at the Navy's Armed Guard Center, New Orleans, LA, after a tour of sea duty as a member of a naval gun crew aboard a merchant ship.

Hoover, who attended Eau Claire High School, before he entered the Navy on May 22, 1942, has credit for a total of eight months service at sea. Although he visited no foreign countries his last trip out, he previously had visited England, North Africa, the Soloman Islands, New Caledonia, and Central America.

The young coxswain is awaiting orders, which will again place him aboard a supply-laden merchantman bound for foreign battle zones.
