|EM 2/C RUSSELL W. HOOVER
Electrician's Mate Second Class Russell W. Hoover, United States Naval Reserve, served aboard the USS President Jackson in the Iwo Jima and Lingayen Gulf invasions and is included in the citation of the ship's company for "performing duties in a gallant and outstanding manner in the landing of troops and cargo through heavy seas and over an insecure beach, consistently under enemy fire."
His wife resides at 1317 Vine Street.
He entered the service on June 20, 1943, received his boot training at Farragut, Idaho, and has served overseas about 18 months.
Russell is a son of Mrs. Joseph Hoover, Rock Falls.
