Martin L. Betz, Route 3, Eau Claire; Donald A. Fliehr, 411 Olive Street, Chippewa Falls; Garland L. Johnson, 304 West Grand Avenue, Eau Claire; and Donald G. Muenkel, Route 4, Chippewa Falls enlisted in the Navy at the Milwaukee Recruiting Station on January 14.

Mrs. Jessie Johnson entertained at a family party for her son, Garland, who enlisted in the Navy on January 14. He is now stationed at Camp Ward, Farragut, ID. Besides relatives, guests were Frances Podrovitz, Dorothy Prissel, and Lorraine Pake.

Garland L. Johnson, Seaman Second Class, has returned to Camp Ward, Farragut ID, after spending a 15-day leave with his mother, Mrs. Hessie Johnson.

Garland L. Johnson has been promoted from Fireman First Class to Petty Officer rate of Electrician's Mate Third Class, according to word received by his mother, Mrs. Hessie Johnson, 304 West Grand Avenue on February 19. He is serving on a submarine tender in the Pacific and has stopped at Hawaii, New Britten, New Guinea, New Georgia, Admiralty Islands, Palau Islands, and Marshall Islands. He has been in service since January 14, 1944.

Garland L. Johnson, Fireman First Class, Electrician's Mate, son of Mrs. Hessie Johnson, 304 West Grand Avenue, is serving somewhere in the South Pacific.

He enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 years; received his boot training at Camp Ward, Farragut, ID; had a 15-day leave; returned to Farragut, where he attended Electrician's Mate School for 16 weeks at Camp Peterson; had a short leave; went to Camp Gilmore; then to California, where he embarked for sea duty.
