Lawrence E. Johnson

Private First Class Lawrence E. Johnson has arrived safely at an overseas destination, according to word received by his father, 526 Fourth Street. 

Private First Class Johnson entered the service on January 13, 1941 and underwent his basic training at Scott Field, IL and at Fort Lewis, WA. He left for an overseas post from the Pacific Coast about February 10. 

His wife and daughter, Jo Ann, reside here with his parents.

Lawrence E. Johnson, son of Mr. Oscar Johnson, 526 Fourth Street, Eau Claire, has been promoted to the grade of Corporal in the Eleventh Army Air Force, according to announcement from his overseas station.

Corporal Johnson entered the services in January 1941 at Milwaukee and went to Scott Field, IL for his basic training. During the past 15  months, he has served as a truck driver at an air base in the Aleutians. 

For participation in activities relating to the Attu and Kiska Operations, Corporal Johnson is authorized to wear a Bronze Campaign Star on his Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon. He is also authorized to wear the Army Good Conduct Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon. 

Mrs. L. E. Johnson, wife, resides with Corporal Johnson's mother at 526 Fourth Street.
