Leonard Johnson

War Casualty
Private First Class Leonard Johnson, Field Artillery, 27 years old, son of Mrs. Johanna Johnson of Northfield, died as a result of drowning in January at Finschhafen, New Guinea. 

Private First Class Johnson has one brother, Private First Class Orlin Johnson, with a Medical Regiment, also in New Guinea, and another brother, Milton, at home. 

During this past fall and winter, there have been two other casualties in the Northfield area. Staff Sergeant Thomas Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Johnson, was killed over France on August 16 and Corporal Rodney Fleming, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Fleming, was killed, while landing, in a plane crash at Sookerating in the Asiatic area. 

Olaf Haugen, also of Northfield, was reported as missing over France on November 18 and was later reported a prisoner of the Germans.
