Lorraine A. Johnson

Ensign Lorraine A. Johnson, United States Naval Reserve, has reported for active duty at Hunter College, NY, according to word received by her mother, Mrs. Catherine Johnson, 312 1/2 Babcock Street.

Feminine Bluejacket Lorraine A. Johnson, daughter of Mrs. Katherine Johnson, 312 1/2 Babcock Street, Eau Claire, has started her preparation for her Naval career as a Storekeeper with her recent enrollment in the Naval Training School for women storekeepers on the Indiana University Campus at Bloomington, IN.

Past civilian experience and "boot training" aptitude tests are the basis for selection to the school.

At Indiana, she will receive expert instruction in storing, recording, reporting, requisitioning and invoicing stock. Classroom curriculum is supplemented with physical training and recreation periods.

Advancement to the Petty Officer rate of Storekeeper Third Class awaits the feminine Bluejacket, upon graduation from the Indiana campus.

Artilleryman Is Missing in Belgium
Word has been received, here, that Sergeant Donald C. Johnson, has been missing in action somewhere in Belgium since December 19. He is the son of Mrs. Kathryn Johnson, formerly of Eau Claire and now living in Seattle, WA.

His wife, the former Therese Talarico, and son are making their home with her parents in Phoenix, AZ.

Sergeant Johnson entered service in September 1942 and left for overseas with an Armored Field Artillery Unit in August 1944.

He has two brothers and a sister in service, First Lieutenant Owen M. Johnson, Army Air Forces in Belgium, Private Richard G. Johnson with the Quartermaster Corps in Italy, and Lorraine, Store keeper Third Class in the WAVES at Treasure Island, San Francisco.
