Raymond L. Johnson, R F Third Class, has been serving as a radio operator on a submarine, operating somewhere in the South Pacific for the past eight months. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Art Johnson, 531 Fall Street.
He enlisted in the Navy in April 1943. He had his boot training at Great Lakes and was then sent to Naval Radio Operator School at Indianapolis, IN.
After completing this course, he was sent to Submarine School at New London, CT, where he took submarine training, advanced radio, and training as a sound operator. From there, he went to Mare Island, CA, where he was assigned to a submarine.
