Navy Flier Spends 15-day Leave Here
Ensign Wallace E. Johnson, who received his commission some time ago in the Naval Reserve, has returned to Norfolk, VA, after spending a 15-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin P. Johnson, 650 Summer Street. 

Ensign Johnson is a graduate of the Eau Claire Senior High School; attended the Eau Claire State Teachers College and the University of Wisconsin. 

He went into training at Lake City, FL; Beaufort, SC; and, following the completion of his prescribed flight training course at the Naval Air Training Center at Pensacola, FL, "the Annapolis of the Air," won his Navy "Wings of Gold" and was commissioned as an Ensign in the Naval Reserve on September 28, 1943.  

His brother, Duane Johnson, has been enrolled in the United States Maritime Service Training School at Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, NY.

Ensign Wallace E. Johnson, of the Navy Air Corps, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Johnson, 650 Summer Street, is spending a short leave with his parents here. He will return to his duties early next week.

Navy Pilot Promoted, Has Brother in Merchant Marine
Wallace Johnson, United States Navy Pilot, has been promoted from Ensign to Lieutenant junior grade, according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. Johnson, 650 Summer Street.

Lieutenant (jg) Johnson received his commission at Pensacola, FL, after pre-flight training at Iowa City and primary at Minneapolis

His brother, Duane Johnson, is in the Merchant Marine. He spent the holidays with his parents, here, and is now stationed at New Orleans, LA. He was in Italy.
