Gene E. June

Gene E. June, son of Mrs. Annetta June, 707 1/2 Bellinger Street, has been promoted from Corporal to Sergeant.

Gene E. June, son of Mrs. A.P. June, 707 Bellinger Street, was commissioned Second Lieutenant of Infantry at Fort Benning, GA in ceremonies there April 19.

Lieutenant June was inducted into service on February 6, 1942 and served as Sergeant with the 20th Armored Division, before attending the Officers Candidate School, which he entered four months ago. He attended Eau Claire High School and the State Teachers College here.

The Infantry School at Fort Benning, largest institution of its kind in the world, conducts intensive courses with officer material intended to weed out any unfitted for the responsible task of leading soldiers into battle and assuming the many responsibilities which fall to the lot of all Army officers.
