Maynard W. Kent

Aviation Cadets Maynard W. Kent and Richard L. Rist recently arrived at Lubbock, Texas Army Air Field for the final phase of flight training. Cadet Kent is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Orrin C. Kent and the husband of the former Bernice Harriet White. He was a rubber worker formerly. 

Cadet Rist, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis B. Rist, 241 Lake Street, was a student at the University of Wisconsin when he entered cadet training and a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity.

Lieutenant Maynard Kent underwent an emergency operation for appendicitis at Luther Hospital Saturday night.

Lieutenant Maynard W. Kent, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Kent, Mt. View Place, arrived in England for overseas duty the first part of August.

His wife and daughter reside at 619 Bergen Avenue.

He is with the Air Transport Command, pilot on a C-47, and has been flying the wounded back to England from France, sometimes getting them back within three or four hours after they were wounded, according to word received by his wife.

His squadron has received the Presidential Citation.

Lieutenant Kent graduated from Lubbock Army Air Field in January 1944 and received further training at the C-47 School at Bergstron Field, Austin, Texas.

His brother, Private Thomas R. Kent, was recently reported killed in action in France.
