Four sons of Mrs. Inga Kiernan, 903 Summer Street, are serving overseas.

Private First Class Eugene J. Kiernan is with the Air Transport Command in North Africa. He received his training at the Seymour Johnson Field in NC; TWA School in Kansas City, MO; Romulus Army Air Base at Romulus, MI; and attended flight school at Reno, NV.

Master Sergeant Paul Kiernan is serving with the 15th Army Headquarters somewhere in England. He was with the Second Army Headquarters in Memphis, TN for three years and with Fourth Army Headquarters in Fort Sam Houston, TX. His wife, the former Lorraine Weaver, resides in Eau Claire.

First Lieutenant James A. Kiernan is serving with the 504th Parachute Infantry somewhere in France. He received his commission at Fort Benning, GA and remained there for a course in Advanced Communications. In September 1944, he was sent overseas and received his paratrooper's wings in England.

Francis E. Kierman, Chief Boatswain Mate, whose wife, Lola, resides in Long Beach, CA, is serving in the South Pacific. He has been in the Navy for the past sixteen years.

Lieutenant James Kiernan, son of Mrs. Inga Kiernan, 903 Summer Street, was wounded in action in Germany on April 7 and is now in a hospital in Belgium, where he is making normal progress toward recovery from multiple injures.

The Purple Heart, awarded to Lieutenant Kiernan, has been received by his mother.

Lieutenant Kiernan was a member of the 504th Paratroop Unit of the 82nd Airborne Division. He received his commission at Fort Benning, GA and was sent overseas last September. He was graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1938.

Lieutenant Kiernan has three brothers in service, Master Sergeant Paul, Private First Class Eugene, and Chief Boatswain's Mate Francis.
