George A. King

Private George A. King, Paratrooper, serving somewhere in the Pacific area, sent this picture to his mother, Mrs. William Roessler, 118 Whipple Street, with a letter dated April 15, saying that he was recovering nicely from arm and shoulder wounds. He had written her previously that he had been in a hospital for two months. In a V-mail, received recently, he stated that he was discharged from the hospital but had not yet resumed active service.

Private King was a member of the National Guard unit that left Eau Claire in 1940. He was transferred to the Paratroop Service about six weeks before he left the United States for Australia last October.
