Staff Sergeant Ralph D. Kischel, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Kischel, 1106 South Third Avenue, Wausau, WI, who was reported missing in action on his first mission as a B-17 waist gunner over Germany on August 23, is reported by International Red Cross, on November 2, as being a prisoner of war of Germany.

Staff Sergeant Kischel entered the service in September 1941 and trained at Sheppard Field, TX; Scott Field, IL; Buckley Field, Denver, CO; as a Link Trainer Instructor, Laredo, TX; Lincoln, NE; and Alexandria, LA, before going overseas.

Prior to entering the Air Corps, he was employed by Retail Credit Company as their local agent for three years.
