Private First Class Roger L. Kling, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Kling, 1541 Altoona Avenue, has arrived in France, according to word received by his wife, who resides with her parents at 927 Chauncey Street. He entered service in February 1943 and received his training at Camp Campbell, KY; Camp Gordon, GA; Fort Jackson, SC; and was on maneuvers in TN. He is in a Field Artillery Battalion.

His sister, Corporal Melva Kling, joined the Women's Army Corps in July 1943 and is a skilled Medical Technician at Fort Des Moines, Iowa.


Corporal Melva Kling is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Kling, Altoona Avenue. Corporal Kling is a skilled medical technician and is stationed at the Fort Des Moines Hospital.


Technician Fifth Grade Grade Melva B. Kling, stationed at the First WAC Training Center, Des Moines, IA, has been awarded the Good Conduct Medal. 

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Kling, 1541 Altoona Avenue, this city. 

Good Conduct Medals are awarded to members of the Women's Army Corps who have shown exemplary behavior, efficiency, and fidelity and who have served in the Army for a year or more.


Melva Kling has been promoted from Corporal to Sergeant at WAC Headquarters in Des Moines, IA, according to word received by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Kling of this city. Sergeant Kling is a Medical Technician.

Sergeant Melva Kling, Medical Technician, is home on furlough from Fort Des Moines, IA and is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Kling, 541 Altoona Avenue.
