Lowell Knight, Jr.

Killed in Action on Saipan Front
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Cleghorn, 734 Broadway Street, have received word from the War Department that their grandson, Private Ronald Cleghorn Knight, was killed in action at Saipan, June 15.

Private Knight, an Infantryman, entered the service in May 1943, in Virginia, the day after his father, Lieutenant Colonel E. Lowell Knight, sailed for foreign duty. He received his basic training at a camp in Georgia, from where he was transferred to California. In December 1943, he went to the Hawaiian Islands.

No word has been received from him in the past three months.

Lieutenant Colonel Knight participated in the invasion of Sicily and Italy. Returning to this country in February, due to the death of his wife, he is now stationed at Fort George G. Meade, MD.

Private Knight, besides his father and his grandparents, is survived by one brother, Lowell, Jr., in an Army camp near St. Louis; and one sister, Nancy, of Greeley, CO.
