Flight Officer Donald V. Kolar of Route 1, Sheldon, B-17 Flying Fortress bombardier in the 351st Bombardment Group, has been decorated with an Oak Leaf Cluster to his Air Medal for "meritorious achievement" on combat missions over enemy Europe.
The citation accompanying the award read in part: "The courage, coolness, and skill displayed by this officer upon these occasions reflect great credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States."
Flight Officer Kolar, 21 year old, is a veteran of 12 bomber attacks on the enemy. He was a machine operator for Evinrude Motors, Milwaukee, before entering the Army on January 28, 1943. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. George Kolar.
