Richard Conley, 425 1/2 Niagara Street; Charles F. Kunz, 1434 Badger Avenue; Donald Skinner, 212 Galloway Street; Thomas Murphy, 661 Wisconsin Street; Roderick Larson, 452 Grand Avenue; and Raymond Dunphy, 470 Lincoln Avenue, are receiving their boot training at the Naval Training Center at Great Lakes, IL.
Three Eau Claire County men were among those graduating from intensive courses of specialized training at recent Service School ceremonies, here, at the U.S. Naval Training Center. The recent graduates are John C. Foster, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Foster, 416 Jefferson; Charles F. Kunz, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Kunz, 1434 Badger Avenue, Eau Claire; Henry H. Johnston, 18, son of Mrs. Lydia Johnston, Fairchild, all in basic engineering.
Valentine Manthei, Seaman Second Class, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Val Manthei, 1513 Highland Avenue, is now serving in the South
He entered the service on August 1, 1944 and received boot training at Great Lakes, IL. He also trained at Little Creek, VA and New Orleans, LA, before going overseas on March, 1, 1945.
In Hawaii recently, he met a neighbor, Charles Kunz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kunz, Badger Avenue.
