Sisters Enlist in Service

MISS ALICE LIESKE

The two daughters of Mrs. Richard Lieske, of 604 Fall Street, have enlisted in the service, Anna Louise in the WAVES [Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Services] and Alice in the SPARS [Women’s Reserve of the Coast Guard].

Anna Louise Lieske left on Tuesday for Cedar Falls, IA, where she will take preliminary training for service in the WAVES. Miss Lieske was graduated from the Eau Claire High School in 1932 and was employed at the Phillips Company prior to her enlistment.

Alice Lieske, who joined another branch of the Naval service by enlisting in the SPARS, reports on March 3 to her training base at Hunter College, New York City. She was graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1928 and attended the Eau Claire Teachers College for two years. She was also employed by Phillips and Sons, prior to her enlistment.
