Frank J. Miller

Private First Class Frank Miller has returned to Camp Hale, CO, after spending a 15-day furlough with his wife and daughter and his wife's parents, Mr. and Mr. V. L. Custer, of Wheaton, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller of Chippewa Falls.

Artilleryman Is Killed in Italy
Private First Class Frank J. Miller has been killed in action in Italy on April 30, according to a telegram received by his wife, Margaret, who resides on Route 2.

He was trained as a mule cargodore and mountain troops in the Field Artillery Battalion at Fort Sill, OK; Camp Hale, CO; and Camp Swift, TX and left for overseas service in December 1944.

Surviving are his wife and two children, Joanne and Arnold, who reside with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Custer, Route 2; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller, Route 3, Chippewa Falls; six sisters, Mrs. Erwin Zurbuchen, Ann, Louise, and Esther, Eau Claire; Irene and Donna, Chippewa Falls; two brothers, Leo and Ted, Chippewa Falls.

He was employed by the Chippewa Shoe Company previous to his induction in January 1943.
